About Therapy

You have a partner in healing.

Working with a variety of painful internal and external circumstances – you are considering therapy. You can choose a path that is empowering and supportive for you as you navigate your life.

When events occur unexpectedly, you may feel like you’ve been jolted out of your equilibrium – you’re off-balance, like a bird flying with a broken wing, landing in the middle of nowhere familiar. Wondering, what do I do now?

Let’s explore, together, what has been troubling you. Maybe the life you’re living now is not satisfying – you doubt the choices you made and find yourself at a crossroads in your life. Perhaps you’re coping is not healthy – you’re ready to exchange old behavioral and thought patterns for new ones that make you feel better about your life.

Something needs to change, and the choices you make matter.

It feels like you’re drowning in chaos, uncertainty, and the lives of those you love. And this may feel like a big inconvenience. When you’re overwhelmed – when systems are getting tapped out – it’s hard to feel like… yourself.

We never plan for that to happen – to lose ourselves in the mix of our lives. But it happens. You have an opportunity to come back to yourself by working with me.

A safe space to be authentically YOU…

When we work together, we cultivate a safe space – where you can be authentically you, and you’re seen as a whole person with a unique story to share. A safe space is difficult to find outside of therapy because people rarely have the capacity or skills to hold the emotional connection and unbiased curiosity needed for healing.

Finding someone who appreciates your unique story is valuable, and it’s an honor to do so with my clients. It’s essential to be with a safe and trustworthy person – someone who won’t judge you or try to convince you to do something that just doesn’t feel honest to you.

This is really important for therapy to be successful because, time and time again, the proof is there – the trust built in the therapeutic relationship is the best predictor for positive outcomes in therapy. I work diligently to be approachable and aware of how your individual experience plays into our social systems and structure.

I get it – turning toward our suffering can be REALLY uncomfortable.

It’s often so uncomfortable that we’d rather run, numb, overwork, hide, or any number of coping mechanisms, so we don’t have to turn toward our suffering. But being honest about what we are experiencing is a necessary part of healing and living the life we want.

Transformation begins with the courage to acknowledge all our life, in all its complexity.

Self-honesty is essential to healing because growth and transformation need a foundation of authenticity. It’s so important for you to know your truth and live it – this is where true freedom is.

As a clinician, my lens is holistic and integrative.

I recognize that you’re a multifaceted person, and I’ll approach you and your mental health with compassion.

I blend the evidence of traditional counseling models with a compassion-focused approach and a trauma-informed lens. Looking at all the different parts of you – from your strengths, beliefs, relationships with others, and yourself (and your body). The techniques I use are addressing responses of sadness, grief, trauma, complex trauma, relational issues, and life purpose.

Working with individuals to integrate their life experiences in an authentic and meaningful way lights a fire in me – the work I do is heart-expanding. I am honored to witness the transformation of my clients as we dive into deep inner work together.

About Me

One day in 2011, I learned that my mission was counseling. For a time, I had been exploring a career as a physical therapist. I worked at an outpatient clinic for three years, connecting with people and encouraging their physical healing process. I noticed that what I enjoyed most about the work was the emotional component, seeing people excited to progress toward their goals for healing – and get stronger mentally.

This path of counseling chose me. It’s been a journey I’ve taken personally – experiencing various therapies for my healing and learning a lot about myself in the process.

My mission is to empower others to learn about themselves, too – their patterns, their personality, and develop trust in the potentials for their life and relationships. Additionally, I hope to create a positive impact and change for our communities, building more compassionate and balanced relationships beyond the therapy space.

Education and training…

I received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. I have been licensed to practice mental health in Colorado since 2017, when I moved here. I began my work in hospice, caring for those and their families at the end of life. My primary training has been in grief and loss, psychology, spirituality, and the mind-body connection.

Something I’ve learned from my experience that has been valuable to my work is – uncovering the beauty of honest expression and letting go of attachment to the outcome. My life has been a series of surprising, unexpected, and sometimes challenging decisions and opportunities. I’m here to share what I’ve learned and empower others to share their stories – and advocate for themselves.

When I’m not doing therapy…

I am engaging in various creative interests, like writing, dancing, listening to music – and enjoying nature with my dog.

I love to spend my free time with my partner exploring new mountain trails and towns – hiking, camping, and enjoying great food.

It’s time to step off the path of suffering…

… and onto the path of living with purpose!

I’m glad our paths have crossed. Whatever has happened in your life, you are capable of change and healing. Knowing this and making a choice to do it are empowering, and I’m here to provide you the tools and support you’ll need to grow.
