My Philosophy

Life is a series of cycles… of beginnings, endings, and in-betweens.

Beginning a new relationship or job can be great, while it can also trigger memories of past situations of being hurt – putting a damper on confidence for what’s coming next.

With an ending, like a move or death, it may bring feelings of loneliness, loss, and longing for more. Stuck and impatient about the time necessary to adjust to change, you are racing onto the next thing and pushing your true needs away.

And everywhere in between beginnings and endings… can feel monotonous and unexciting, like you’re in a holding pattern going nowhere, waiting for the next queue to go.

Up and down, our emotions, sensations, thoughts, and beliefs take us on a rugged trail with a series of choices to make. Unknown turns, one after another, can become increasingly uncomfortable. You may be weary and doubtful, yet you’re still open to possibilities ahead.

Imagine your future self, again enjoying the adventure of your life.

“Being with suffering” is a path to healing…

Doing our inner work is necessary. There’s really no way around our suffering. There is only the way through. I’ve been there, too – pretending like the pain isn’t present until it shows up in bigger ways, affecting various areas of life.

So let’s go within the depths of who we are… uncovering our pain and deciding what we will do with it. It is here that we can get clear on all the ways we’ve been looking for care and support. It is here we can emerge from the depths of suffering, with compassion and awareness for ourselves.

We need connection with life to thrive. Being with others who can hold space for our suffering is necessary – those with the skill for loving containment of our stories through their presence, compassion, and wisdom.

We heal through our stories… and by bringing them to trusted people.

What has your inner dialogue been saying? We must first know our narratives to transform them. From thinking, “I’m not enough,” “I’m a failure,” “I am unlovable”… We can engage compassion and our natural strengths to shift out of old patterns and emerge with freedom and new narratives.

Healing occurs in relationship – with God, with oneself, with others. The foundation of a healthy and healing relationship is trust. I am here to help you cultivate trust that aligns with your personal story and beliefs.

With presence and supportive tools to shift you out of old stories…

…pain has an outlet to release from the body and mind,

…doubt has a voice,

…the inner-self has the comfort it needs.

We can see a way forward with perspective and purpose.

When we are more fully ourselves, we show up in the world with courage.

We can begin to move from a place of pain to empowerment when we carefully peel back the layers built up to protect us – like the tough exterior that says, “I don’t need help” or “I don’t need to change.”

While you do the work to uncover more of your authentic self, I am here as a guide and witness to your transformation. I will support your process as it naturally unfolds and reflects what I observe, gently encouraging you to keep going with goals focused on your healing. It is a journey we make together in a therapeutic relationship.

To know your wants, needs, and beliefs while unearthing your story is the work of being more fully you. I understand it’s difficult to do – you are not the same person today as you were a year ago, or even last week. I believe that when we have the right tools and support to heal, the ever-unfolding process is a beautiful journey, being more authentic to ourselves and others.

My mission is to help you live more authentically, express yourself more honestly, and love who you are.

It takes courage to reach out for help.

You may have played it tough for a while, doing your best to cope. But you need relief now – someone who will be with you in your pain, so you don’t have to suffer alone any longer.

Whatever is not supporting your needs and desires – whether it’s a job, a relationship, or your inner dialogue (which can be the hardest critic, after all) – these are all valid reasons to need relief.

It is enormously brave to sit with your suffering while allowing another person to witness. While it can be uncomfortable, you’ll see that the reward is great.

This is a beautiful journey. Let’s travel together…

I can help you find safety, so you don’t have to keep facing all your decisions with fear. You can learn how to face your life with curiosity, hope, and openness to change.

When you engage in the deep work of processing and integrating your life experiences in therapy, you give yourself another chance to find meaning. It is here that you have an opportunity to make peace with all that you’ve learned and lost along the way.

There is value in learning to live with uncertainty – to be in the not knowing, committed to continually discovering and unearthing personal truth as you grow and change.
